Things you will never forget...

On our last full day in Maine, we took an amazing hike out to the cliffs by the ocean.  This was by far the most strenuous/difficult hike we had done.    It was probably not more then a mile one way.  There wasn't a paved walkway, or path.  We followed cairns through the forest.

These piles of stones aren't any particular distance apart.  We really had to watch for them.  I was a little anxious, because after awhile they start to look like part of the natural landscape and I wondered if we could find our way back!  (of course Rog had no concerns).

We followed the markers and made our way, with the help of our walking sticks.  I really needed mine :)

The view at the edge was ....amazing.

We saw dolphins and an eagle!

Once we reached the cliff we sat and enjoyed a picnic lunch.  Best lunch I've ever had!

It was a wonderful way to spend a day.

Saturday morning, Rog's birthday and our 41st wedding anniversary,  we received a phone call from our neighbor Brian who told us a large limb had just fallen on our roof!  It was one of those "now what do we do moments".  Our daughter Heather went to our house and into the attic and was able to see we had a hole in the roof, we knew we had to come home.  We called and cancelled our reservation for Kennebunkport, Maine.  I started planning a route home and places to stay.
We stopped outside of Boston at the Minute Man campground.  Nice park. Lots of very large evergreens!

Next day it was on to Pennsylvania, Promised Land State Park.

Promised Land could be a destination in our future.  Beautiful park.

Andre and Isaac were beginning to get tired of being closed in a crate everyday!  And this was only day two!

Next day we stopped very close to the Ohio border. This was strictly an overnight place.  No pictures taken there. By Thursday we were home.

Once again we want to thank our neighbors, Rex and Brian for covering our roof for us.  Did an amazing tarp job.  Our daughter Heather for running over to get pictures for insurance.  We are blessed to have such good friends and family.  The LIMB and I say LIMB, almost a tree was removed on Thursday before we got home. So, we never actually got to see it up there. This just goes to show why we buy home owners insurance!

Don't know when we will head out again.  This trip to Maine was something we had both been looking forward to for some time.  We want to go back and spend some more time exploring the coast and we would like to go farther north.

The best part of this post is that I can show you a picture of our WHOLE family!

Rhonda and Ivan were on their way to Maine to surprise us....they never made it to Maine, and we are glad this darn tree brought us all together!
