On the road again...

We last left you in June.  Here it is, summer is almost over and we've hit the road again.  Currently we are outside Ithaca, New York.  Our cousins, Kennen and Terri, met us here.  We will be staying in New York till September 24th, when we head to Washington, DC.

Don't know if we really knew what to expect from the Finger Lakes region.  It has been a pleasant surprise and we don't think 2 weeks will be enough.

Do you like waterfalls?  In the Ithaca area south of Cayuga Lake, there are 11 alone.  Here are some pics of a few of them,,we've seen all but 3 of the 11.

Both Enfield and Lucifer falls were in Robert Treman State park.

We also visited Taughannock Falls State Park

Then there was Ludlowville Falls, which is on the north side of Cayuga Lake.

Anita got a little crazy and walked onto the top of the fall.

We've tried to hit a different state park almost everyday.  It's been a blast.  Lots of walking/hiking.  Weather has been perfect.  We all agree that Watkins Glen, which is at the southern most tip of Seneca Lake is the most breathtaking of all we've seen.

There are 765 steps up to the end of the trail that runs through the gorge that includes over a dozen different waterfalls.  We didn't make it all the way to the top, but we made it over 3/4 of the way.

Anyone else see a heart?

Think I heard someone say, enough of the waterfalls already :)  We have also visited a vineyard, tried some vino.

Drove over to Corning, New York and visited the Museum of Glass. Very interesting.  Watched a glassblowing demo and saw some crazy modern art and ancient glass pieces.

 Those are supposed to be crows on the chandelier that knocked it down, sort of menacing.

We also visited another winery, Swedish Hill on the far north end of Cuyoga Lake.  Doobie the donkey is their mascot.

Some of the best wines we have ever tried.  We bought a few bottles :)

Then on the way home we stopped at a Beer Garden..why not?

There were lots of dogs enjoying the outdoors with us.

We really liked this establishment.  Might have to visit them again before we leave the area.

We've really enjoyed our stay so far.  Looking forward to the next 5 days.  It's Rog's 65th birthday Monday and our 43 wedding anniversary as well.  What better way to celebrate!
