Is it Mackinaw or Mackinac?

We spent a week in Mackinaw City.  Lake Huron is nothing like I expected.  Beautiful blue water and so warm!

We took a drive over the "BRIDGE" just so we could say we had been in the  "UP"

Once we arrived we climbed to the top of Castle Rock, they said 12 flights of steps, all I know it was a long way up and the view from the top was amazing, picture doesn't do it justice.

We headed back to Mackinaw City and walked along the shore close to Fort Michlimacknac,,,(I think that was how it was spelled)  beautiful shore line and light house.

The next day, Heather, Rob, Justis and Logan joined us and we took a ferry ride over to the island.
It was a great day, other then the sudden down pour we got caught in.  We toured the fort and of course we had to buy some fudge!

View of the "tail" of water off the back of the ferry.

View from the fort of Lake Huron.

Soooo many stones to throw!

Ferry coming in

The island is full of houses like this, absolutely gorgeous!

and the flowers were amazing!

Next day was Justis' birthday.  We decided to go into town and check things out.

We found a place to play putt putt golf, Heather even got a hole in one!

After a long day, "Papa" had to explain the important things to Logan

and then we went for a refreshing swim in the lake.

Next day Heather and family were headed home.
On there way we went to Big Bear Adventure park in Indian River.

Here are the BRAVE souls that harnessed up and headed up into the trees!

Justis!
Rog, doing the splits!

Then we played some putt putt golf there, great course.

Even Logan made par  (well in his mind)

Then we stopped at a nice local restaurant,,,Papa just can't stop antagonizing the poor boy.

Heather and family headed back to Indiana and we headed back to camp, for a nap!

The lake was calling us and enjoyed the afternoon walking the shoreline and enjoying the evening!

Our last day we decided we needed some exercise so we took our bikes out for a 10 mile ride.
There is a nice bike trail that follows Michigan 23, for 62 miles I believe.  It's gravel and mostly shaded.

We are pretty sure we will be going back to this part of Michigan.  There is a lot more to see and do.
We had a great trip and we are so thrilled that Heather, Rob, Justis and Logan could join us!

Next stop is Maine in September!  Now we have a deck that needs refinishing!
